Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) wishes to acknowledge and honour the immense contributions of Mr. Frank Hadley, our inaugural chairman, following his recent passing. Mr. Hadley’s visionary leadership and dedication were instrumental in shaping both CSD and the Australian cotton industry.
Frank Hadley’s journey with CSD began on April 5, 1967, when he, along with six other local cotton growers, conducted the first meeting of CSD at the Parish Centre in Wee Waa. Held at 9.30pm, the meeting marked the start of an enduring legacy. Only one motion was moved at the 10-minute-long meeting – the acceptance of nominations for the inaugural members of CSD.
On the same day, at 9:45pm the first general meeting of CSD was held with 28 members present. Frank Hadley was elected chairman of the meeting, with R. Williams, R. Schulze, B. Haylock, W. Findley, E. Griffith and C. Hamand elected with Mr Hadley to the first committee.
A week later, on April 12, 1967, Frank Hadley was officially elected as the inaugural chairman of CSD, with Richard Williams as vice-chairman. His tenure as chairman lasted until April 1968, but his influence on the board continued until 2002. Mr. Hadley’s leadership during these formative years was crucial in establishing CSD’s core values and guiding the organization towards success.
Ian Taylor, CEO of CSD, remarked, “Frank Hadley’s contributions to both CSD and the Australian cotton industry are immeasurable. His vision and leadership laid the groundwork for our organisation’s success. Frank was more than just a chairman; he was a mentor and a friend. His legacy will continue to inspire us for generations.”
Mr. Hadley’s commitment to the cotton industry was unwavering. His ability to unite like-minded individuals and foster a collaborative spirit was key to the growth and expansion of cotton farming in the region. His enthusiasm and dedication set a standard that continues to influence CSD’s operations today.
As we reflect on Frank Hadley’s remarkable life, we celebrate his achievements and the lasting impact he made on our industry. His contributions will forever be a part of CSD’s heritage.
