Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) last month celebrated the retirement of Michael O’Connor, a trusted legal adviser and long-standing partner, who shaped the Company’s success.
His expertise and unwavering commitment helped transform CSD from a period of uncertainty in the early 2000s into the strong, future-focused organisation it is today.
Michael’s association with CSD spanned more than two decades, during which he played a pivotal role in guiding the company through some of its most significant legal milestones including the formalisation of the Cotton Breeding Australia joint venture agreement with CSIRO and negotiating the various GM trait agreements with Monsanto.
Michael’s deep legal knowledge and strategic insight have been instrumental in building trust and forging enduring partnerships, from resolving complex industry disputes to negotiating landmark agreements with global leaders.
Michael’s meticulous approach and ability to balance commercial vision with robust legal frameworks positioned CSD for long-term success.
The entire Australian cotton industry owes Michael a debt of gratitude. His efforts have not only strengthened CSD but also safeguarded the future of cotton breeding and innovation in Australia. Beyond his professional achievements, Michael will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and tireless dedication. His contribution extended well beyond the boardroom, fostering relationships built on trust and respect within CSD and with our partners. We thank Michael for his outstanding service and wish him every happiness in the next chapter of his life.
As we farewell Michael, we are delighted to introduce Andrew Dawson, who joins CSD as our new legal counsel. Andrew brings extensive experience in corporate and intellectual property law, along with a strong understanding of the agricultural sector. His appointment ensures continuity of the high standards Michael set and reflects CSD’s commitment to innovation and collaboration.
Please join us in celebrating Michael’s remarkable legacy and welcoming Andrew to the CSD team.
