Total Ag Services Dirranbandi wins CSD Agent of the Year Award for 2019-20 season

18 December, 2020

Total Ag Services (TAGS), Dirranbandi has been awarded Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) Agent of the Year award for the 2019-20 season. The award, which is in its second year, recognises not only the support the agent provides to CSD, but also to the wider Australian cotton industry. Greg Nicol (pictured), manager and director of TAGS in Dirranbandi accepted the award from local E&D Agronomist Chris Teague recently.

Although there has not been a lot of cotton grown in the Dirranbandi region for the past few seasons - due to lack of water, Greg has a strong presence in the expansion of the cotton industry in Northern Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory.

In congratulating Greg on the award, CSD’s Extension and Development Manager for QLD, Sam Lee made comment on Greg’s passion for expanding the industry in the north, as well as his commitment to his agency responsibilities.

“Greg has taken the opportunity to be actively involved in the expansion of cotton into Northern Australia. The past few dry seasons have been tough for the cotton industry, particularly in the western regions and there has not been a lot of cotton for the team at TAGS to consult on,” Sam said.

“The potential for growing cotton in the north provides some diversity in operating risk for businesses and Greg has been able to provide his expertise and knowledge as a consultant in the north, under the TAGS banner.”

“Aside from activity in the north, the TAGS Dirranbandi branch is also very diligent in supporting CSD though our marketing and extension programs and there is always a good level of communication between both parties. This makes it easier for CSD to service our grower customers and to ensure we can support the industry,” Sam commented.

In a positive turn-around, there is water in the Dirranbandi region again this summer and cotton is being grown again. This will see TAGS Dirranbandi not only servicing the north this season, but out and about in the fields in their local area again. CSD looks forward to continuing their valued relationship with TAGS and Greg in the coming seasons.
