A very hot season with high insect numbers made for a tough first season, but the crop held on despite the weather in January and February and managed to put on some top fruit which helped in terms of the yield. The Sicot 748B3F and Sicot 754B3F performed best in the trial with good quality considering the season.

The trial was planted on the 4/11/2016 into moisture using a Janke offset disk. The crop established poorly at around 5-6 plants/m but decided to keep it. The crop grew well for the first half of the season but did suffer some damge from mirids. The crop had very little rain throughout the season but managed to keep growing maybe due to the lower plant stand. We were reasoneably happy with the yields considering the harsh season and the quality held up with very few discounts.
