An explanation of the forecast score

14 September, 2018

With planting underway in Central Queensland and soon to begin in the other cotton valleys, there have been some questions about planting conditions, forecast scores and how to time the planting operation to ensure successful cotton establishment.

To assist growers and consultants with these decisions, CSD have added a forecast score to the FastStart Cotton Soil Temperature network data, which provides an indication of the potential day degrees accumulation, based upon the preceding seven-day forecast.

This week’s Facts on Friday explains the forecast score and how it can be used as a guide to refine the decision making process.
